Black Culture

An image just popped into my head in where I was sitting and somebody (I didn’t see the face) saying “ Aquel quien trata a la iglesia como una fiesta esta deshonorando no solo a la iglesia pero a Dios y todos los valores que como religiosos debemos seguir. En la iglesia no se baila ni tampoco se canta por que estaremos desvergonzando a Dios.”I was raised to believe that in church you do not dance nor sing because that is an aberration against the church.I was thinking all day about this because in the Black culture when they go to church they sing, they dance and they have a good time. So in reality when you talk about their religion, there are people that think that Black faith is not real and that the way the practice religion is incorrect. This happens because people do not accept change or different styles and cultures.

Relating this to the June Jordan article, I think that to be able to understand their culture or their language they have to first let everyone else know that if you understand them they could understand you. By writing the article strictly in Black English causes commotion and you confuse those who are trying to read it but do not understand it. If you first explain clearly (Standard English) so everyone else could understand and then you could write it in your own style (Black English). In that way you get your point across and show everybody that you are educated, you speak both Standard and Black English that you can easily speak and understand both of the equally.
