The beginning of the passage sounded a little cocky, "I’m glad I was born white". But as I kept on, I realized it wasn't a racist passage. Basically what the author is saying is that, he has been lucky, by not receiving mistreatment and police abuse due to the fact of the color of his skin. Also, is not that is he proud that he is white or superior is that because he is white he gotten some privileges that minorities haven't, he hasn't suffer from racism in the U.S because of the color of his skin.I liked the analogy he used with the shirt. It is very true that you can get rid of the shirt or just take it out to avoid conflicts or if is insulting someone in any way, but you cannot change the color of your skin.It makes me really sad that policemen abuse their power and use it for the wrong reasons. It is very true that many police officers are corrupt and unjust, but not all police officers are unjust. Like the author said the list of police abuse can go as long as u want it to be but you have to remember that there is another list of admirable actions from other police officers.
